Looking great Alan. Happy Thanksgiving.
Looks like either Johnson S or P engines.
Let's face it Ron, he should have stayed in his car. It was a stupid move to walk out on the track while cars are still making the rounds. If you flipped your boat, would you swim out into on coming...
Smitty, back about 1952 my Dad and I built a CC racing pram. Started off with a Johnson TN 5 hp whiched it along fairly well. There was a local racer who raced one with a KG7H. We bought a almost new...
How about "LONG GONE".
Hi Alan, my old 20-H I ran in EORC back in the 60s was converted to 16:21 and did not need to be clearanced. I did not have the toilet bowl conversion. Did have the Carter carb. It did run pretty...
Have a super day, Steve. HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!
Calvin, there are a couple in the Antique Outboard Motor Club.
I see in the first picture that you had Lockerman (hardware)which was just about the oldest Johnson dealer in MI. Is that where you got your Johnsons back in the day? Been there a couple of times...
Steve, that should be done to ANY HACKERS.
For now we owe our thanks to Mike and Emma.
Wishing Charley and June all the best in their future life. Congratulations to the two of you.
Sorry to hear such sad news. Never met Jerry personaly, but, have seen him run. We do not need to loose more of historic racing.
May the good Lord be with him.
Hi again Stu, I remember Bud Parker saying he ran his Parker D Looper in Wallsberg area. Said his first run kind of told him he had to learn how it was running the higher powered looper.
My wife ...
WOW !!!! Look at the prices of the K Craft runabouts. Remember my purchase of a Sea Jay C/D runabout for just a bit more delivered. The GOOD OLD days.
Alan
Sure do miss the old EORC days.
I am glad you found a good place for the beer cooler. One of the most importment pieces of equipment to carry. A cool one or two after the races to wind...
Wayne, don't we all regret keeping at least something from our old racing days. Out side of a couple of pictures, I have a lot of regrets. Wish I knew where my old equipment ended up.
Alan, as an old time racer, the beer cooler space is number 1 before the boats, engines and the rest of needed goods. LOL !!!!
Have a great year.
Happy birthday Joe. Lots of history under the bridge.
Hi Alan and Dave, those were the great days on the Island. I was not at that race. I was sorry to see the Long Island clubs go by the way side. Had great days with EORC with stocks and alkys. Look...
Great looking boats. Keep posting.
Hi Alan
Wish I still had my C and D loopers. If I only knew. Got to say that you have a great collection. You and Dave still building the Aeroliner runabouts? Tell Dave I said HI.
Hi Tim, won't be able to attend Mark's AOMC meet, so, please post pictures. From what I understand, Mark's collection is now having space problems. Spoke to Mark at the racers reunion at DePue a...
Hi Wayne. Ralph eSilva was in the antique pits at the ramp.He was with Bernie VanOsdale and Karl Williams. The man has a great mind as he said he remembered me, and that was at the NOA nationals at...
Want to thank John for all the work he and his crew did to put on the reunion. It made for a SUPER time. Got to see old racing friends and meet many I have corresponded with on the internet. Like I...
Ron. you missed a good turn out. Nice displays. For the most part, great Racing.
Alan Ishii and Charlie Bradley lost their long hair. As Charlie said, his helmet will now fit.
Everyone seemed to...
Hi Alan,
Looks like Jr. was running a demo derby. :D
All the best when you get to the nationals. Show them the old LI racing spirit.
Al
David, now that DePue is back on, are you still going?
It was a great video for me. Seeing old friends from our EORC on LI, some who have passed on. Many thanks.
I believe the both Bill and Jim Gohery were among the last ones to run the OMC 4 cyl Fs.:D
The runabout a Phantom hull?
Sis, I have to agree with both Bob and Wayne. Bring it for show, but, make sure it also goes home with you. Memories tied with the engine can not be replaced. I sold all my race equipment when I left...
Joe, look forward to your articles in the Antique Outboarder. The two in the last issue on your visit to Ariens and Konig were great. :D
Will be looking forward to the videos. Nothing like the sound of a 6 banger looper at top end. :D
Nice pictures, Tom. The work of our friend, Tim (THE MAD MACHINEST) keeps on. Wonder what the next project will be.
Hi guys, did you ever run the Martin 200 and check how she runs against the KG7H and 20H Mercs. Going back through my old Antique Outboard magazines, Russ Larson posted a graph from Martin showing...
Congratulations Amy. Made the weekend very worthwhile. You beat the best. :)
Hi Roy,
Yes, those were the good old days of the 460s and side by side cockpits. Most had the side by sides, but, a couple had front cockpits where their WIVES jumped from the rear to forward...
I showed the Konig literature to a German sailor while we were in the Naval hospital in Charleston, SC back in the early 60s. e pronounced it Ker-nig and said it meant "KING" in German. Quite fitting...
Those Sid runabouts were something else to drive. Had a BU which right at the starting line snapped rolled blowing my 20H wide open. End of BU class running. Also had a DU Hornet which also snapped...
Looks like they had some good water. Right across the channel from where Cameron Waterman ran his first outboard in Feb 1905.
Hi Tim, the MAD SCIENTIST is at work again. Looking forward to the videos. :D:cool:
Wishing you all the best on this day Paul. HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!
A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ralph. I guess continue building boats has kept him young. :)
Marlee is doing a super job giving us much needed updates on west coast racing. Maybe someone in the mid west and east coast will follow her lead. Look forward to each issue.
Hi Tim, figured with you being quiet on BRF so long you had something on the fire. Hopefully someone will take video and post it. This should raise some eye brows at Hillsdale. Wish I was back in MI...
With all the storms that hit the east coast this winter, NO WATER? Looks like someone pulled the plug on the lake.
Nice work Mike. If you come up with a video, please post.
Over boring is used to bring cylinders back into round condition. Should never go more than what it takes to get them round.
Hi Pat. It was good to see some of the old crowd back in the day. :)
Hi Johnny, yes Pete Kruszon was N-10. That was the CRR rig I sold him.
Hey guys, thanks for the postings and comments. :D
Gene at the 1964 NOA nationals at Lake Spivey, Ray did run a 590 on his runabout. It was the same engine that Jack ran. They were pitted next to each other waiting for Bill Holland and crew to arrive...
