    Bill's Right

I guess I never noticed Konigs configured like that. It makes sense to protect the carbs. Did moving the weight of the exhaust change a boat's handling?

    Question about Photo

Something I noticed that is unusual in the photograph, it that the exhaust is on the left side of the engine. IF this is a Konig 700, it is the only one that I have ever seen with the exhaust coming...

    Is the Angle?

The H-1 boat looks tiny for a 700 compared to the F-5. Wayne, et. al how long were the 700's back in the day?

I love those classic lines on the Yales and Butts.

    Driver of D-14

I guess I do not remember John Yale well (the boats yes). IN the photo that follows, the driver looks a lot like Jeff Hutchinson from Lakeland, FL.

    If memory serves me...

Hinton was 1977. I remember Mal driving a brand new Yale 500 that was a beautiful boat and probably would have been built around 1980 or so. I believe they got out of the 500 class around 1982-1984.

    The Hardin's

I do not recall Mal ever racing 700cc. I recall about this time or soon after, they got sold the 500 equipment, as Tom thought that the engine capabilities were too much for the boats of the time...

    Wayne,

Just think how much more comfortable you would have been in a capsule boat. You could have probably rigged it with flip-up top and a dump tank!!:D

I have heard drivers say that I nearyl...

    Tucked Under

I won a 250 race once where we had the lower unit tucked under about 1/2 inch against a good field of boats. Never again would I drive like that and we won the race. Despite turing great, I was...

    One Way

There is little run RB powerhead in the first turn of DePue. One team had too many mechanics and nobody tightened the nuts that held the powerhead on!! Ran about a lap, the nuts fell off and the...
