they're are a fair amount of 13 spline props since so many guys run the triples. I would think you could get 65 if you make it into a 140 essentially, but you might be just as well off to find a 140...
I'd assume he does, I sure hope so he had some of the better props for them. I've got a 1983 140hp I picked up a while back for almost nothing that is in need of a rebuild. I'm not going crazy on it,...
I've often wondered about this sort of thing epecially as powerabout has mentioned the etec's have large reed cages and more reeds in them vs the equivalent power carbed motor. I know the 20-35hp...
Thats the wrong tiller handle for it, looks like a tiller off a smaller engine like 25-30hp.
I had a 1993 or 1992 mariner same as merc 52ci 60hp tiller short short shaft for a while. I converted it to a jet making it a 60/40. like others have said I don't believe merc sold a 40hp 3cyl till...
If you read through past post on here you'll see the op has tried going past 19 and has had some issues, I may be wrong I think he is running 20 deg now or maybe he is back to 19. I know he tried 21...
odd that it didn't like 19 deg of timing pretty sure that's what my 1992 70hp 56ci was factory, as well my 1987 70hp, I believe even the older 75hp 49ci was set at 19deg factory. Wonder if you outta...
very interested to see if the carb stacks and slight enlargement helps much
pictures of the 1992 70hp carb with idle adjustment needle measured 38mm/1.5inch inlet measured 35mm/1.37inch outlet so slightly smaller than my 1987 70hp carb. Also picture of block casting number...
so I know it has been debated on here plenty about what omc triples came with the biggest carbs. I have a buddy that just got a 1988 60hp and was after the better carbs. So I finally pulled a top...
good update it's much appreciated. Any measurements on that exhaust tuner and exhaust housing just trying to have a comparison of the difference between stock and yours. Since my application I'm...
I know what you meant I fish rivers for smallmouth in my boat so I sacrifice speed for a heavy duty hull that can handle running over logs and crap. If you want to stick with a tinny, but want hull...
glad to hear it's running good, but if your wanting speed that's not the hull as already stated. That hull is intended to be a heavy duty little fishing boat, great if your gonna bang off logs or...
the last video of it running thing sounded awesome.
I imagine if he is cutting the liner to unshroud the impeller this is how he is getting rpm up. Kind of like how now the new 6 7/8" stainless 3 blade impellers which mercury/quicksilver makes the new...
My best guess is it just gas/oil mix that manages to seep out from the carbs after it's left sitting. The gas evaporates as it manages to seep out from carb bowls leaving the oil to drip. I've seen...
Nice nose cones great work if I ever get around to messing with a prop on my boat makes me want to take a wack at doing something similar thanks for posting up the build and results.
phil thanks for the measurements, and port picture helps a lot. Sorry been busier than a one legged man in a hookey pookey dancing contest lately. still need to measure my two engines carbs to see...
The thing that gets the mercury 60hp 3 cylinders which started as 53ci roughly then got bumped to 59ci in the late 90's was they were a blind bore so you can't shave the head to bump compression up...
Awesome thank you very much that is what I needed.
Thank you for the advice my issue is still how long are sst 60 exhaust tuners? Maybe I've been looking through all the wrong threads but I haven't been able to find what the length of sst60 tuners...
I wasn't going to go extreme on the head decking want to be able to run premium pump gas don't wanna have to buy race fuel for my fishing/hunting boat. So I don't even know if I would go as far as...
Glad I have a 1987 as well. From my reading on the mod 70 build which heads are better to shave. If my memory serves me correct in the mod 70 build the oval port ones didn't require as much decking...
I've read through hupiveneilija mod 70 thread it was very helpful I probably won't go as extreme on porting as going much past 6200 rpm with a jet just doesn't do it much better from what I've heard....
Sorry phill I didn't find hounddog's post from 2016 about it I was merely going off what he posted in this thread. I agree that many carbs on ebay are falsely advertised and don't have the throat...
Phill I'm nearly 100% positive mine is a true 70. It wasn't a factory jet. The engine label on the transom bracket the model number is a 70hp one. It's a 70hp back troller so it was a factory 70hp...
Regardless of what year you did the carb swap and dump test the info is much appreciated. Modifiedoutboard what the heck etec are those reed cages off of been trying to back search the part numbers...
I understand what you mean by the cowbell shape and I finally found the thread that had the inlet and outlet size specs of the sst 60 tuner barried in fast freds mod 50 secrets page 76
...
Thanks for the advice on the ports and reed cages I think I will be keeping my eye out for more of those etec ones. The advice is very much appreciated I've had plenty of experience working on and...
Dang now you have me confused on the tuner lol so add 2" to sst 60 tuner? Wouldn't that make it more like a stock 70hp tuner. I thought the stock 70hp tuner was longer than the sst60 tuners. Thanks...
Thank you, this was my basic plan for my engine don't want anything crazy as I want to be fairly reliable as I use it fishing and hunting regularly. Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't think 100 was really...
Thank you, I've been reading around quiet a bit the 1987 is a 56ci and I thought they had the bigger carbs from what I have read, but didn't know for sure. Sure is a lot of info on here have been...
curious as to what carbs are closest to the sst60 carbs I have 1994 stock 70hp oval port rude. A 8-9hp gains with carbs and jets would sure be nice especially in that rpm range since I running a jet...
