Why not send the crank out to dave eden, have him machine the crank pin area wider and re heat treat it? That would allow you a little more area for bearing surfaces on the dual rod idea.

They are impressivr too!
Word is tuning issues, and a lack of available testing time due to outside influences at the race course. (ambulance not on site)
A blubbery lazy motor that four strokes. Much preferred and far cheaper than under jetting.
jet it until it fourstrokes and go back down 2-4 sizes.
I have 1.78's in mine now.
What boat?
put a pick up on the transom and plumb it into the water cavity on the gearcase, none of these little motor lowers are going to live under that 20 hp.
Those look like a LOT of fun.
Don't feed the troll. ;)
beautiful!
That's pretty big on the mains. I'd go back to 88's and 56 on the idle and see what that gets. I have a couple really nasty 2.0's and run 96-98's on the mains but these motors are really close to...
The reason for starting in gear is it is very tough on gearcase components when shifting a big pitch propeller, or when you have a modified motor that does'nt exactly idle tame.
If you can find a complete SST 60 Evinrude that would make a nice motor for your boat.
Your boat does'nt need a nose cone, your best max height is probably going to be 2-3 inches up and a 21 inch raker or renegade. The single cable steering and sitting on a plank is going to make it...
24 raker, holeshot is terrible as these motors have very little low end torque, even with the vent holes in the prop opened way up. I made a plate than bolted to the set back that helped it a great...
You'd be surprised how high those cases will run..

A cvx 16 with a 200 is already a recipie for a chine walking mess. If the motor is apart do the mounts.
Curious to if you are using sleeves or having the bores nicasil?
No it's not true, thats why Mercury spent millions over the last 60 years on lower unit and propeller technology, not to mention all of the aftermarket support of nose cones and prop makers. All the...
You might want to put some spectecles on and watch the video again
GREAT find.. it's a total shame this class died.
I think I'm in on this after I see what my tax return says.
those 3hps are great little motors, they sure as hell don't make them like that anymore.
