I too lapped my reed cages (mine has 40 hp cages) with a fine wet dry sandpaper. I later was told to use a course grit as it would leave more surface area for oil to cling to. Have not made that...
My yamaha 30 3 cylinder does the same thing. Oil all over the clamp on bracket. Gotta wipe ot down a few times a year.
Looks like about $1,350 in parts and that doesnt include the cowl!
Dont get confused. I’m hoping for a list of parts to add a manual start to a 59 ci merc.
There are the parts in your link and then parts for the flywhee/stator as well as parts for the fuel pump....
I’m hopeful someone has already crossed this bridge and can weigh in. I have those schematics but i still think a member here may chime in with some help.
I found a pull start cowling (has the hole in front of cowl) and am wondering what parts are needed to add that option (manual start) to an e start engine. If you have peeled this onion already...
I responded to op on alternate thread. Unfortunately (well actually fortunately) the value of the yamaha 25/30 has been diminished due to the game and fish passing a regulation saying no passing...
I've lapped several yamaha 30 and 40/50 2 stroke reed cages with success. You have to be somewhat reserved with the amount of pressure you apply when using sandpaper (I use 320 and then 400) but they...
My engine has been full ported and polished by an accomplished builder. I have a completely custom exhaust tube, 150 psi on each hole, 50 intake, 50 reed cages, and some other stuff including the 40...
Mine runs great with 125s but they are 40 carbs. I ran 122 vs 125 back to back on the same fuel. Played with timing a smidge with both and had no recognized variance in top speed. Also ran tony...
I bot 125 mains for a tohatsu m40d several years ago but i had to look for em. Once you get the manufacturer tohatsu/nissan part # google it. You may have to look at the m50d parts to find em.
Grayson where are you located?
Those yamahas have an anti rev in neutral mechanism. You can still "give her half throttle and choke it" to start it though.
Canada vs france?
Found it on the innerwebs. Thanks.
What yamaha digital?
Does anyone know the venturi diameter measurement for these 2 carbs. Many thanks.
Yes my boat has a substantial "center runner" to help it turn
Am i correct to assume larger prop diameter will help reduce blowin out?
Note that I obviusly dont want to lower the motor as my cavitation plate is already buried (non -visible at WOT) and lowering it just slows my down.
The boat is a 6 degree V 340 lb aluminum 15 foot boat. Long story short the transom angle on this boat (angle measured where the hull meets transom) is less than industry average (more upright) and...
Quick question... My boat has an issue with cavitation/ventilation at the current height (I can plane but an average turn results with too much "blow out") and I am trying to prevent lowering the...
I can see how longer or shorter would help. Mine are right in the zone where they are binded due to their length but it has never bothered me.
You can get the (2) cables to align perfectly with the "clips" that hold them into place but you'll need two sets of channel locks and some heat would help. Then you can bent them slightly over and...
I am going with yes.
Your compression is higher than the OEM.
Did that, several tools show on images but I can't see that they would effectively provide the measurement I'm after.
We've been experimenting with some carb changes but I'm sorta flyin blind and need a micrometer that can measure inside diameter but with some reach where it can be positioned to accurately measure...
Yep or the reed cage needs to be lapped as the rubber invariably swells around the mounting screws
The SRA 3 blade (SRA3) or 4 blade (SRA4)? You will need to determine pitch which is usually printed on the side of powertech props. The SRA, in my experience, is best when run higher in the water as...
I am curious if there is a member here who can modify Tohatsu M40D carbs (3) for power increase. I have not measured (dont have proper tool for this) the venturi and am not schooled in the carb arts...
Anybody else care to weigh in on the performance gains releted to reduced weight flywheel?
Length, width, weight, amount of setback, power t & t, anti-ventilation plate height compared to hull, nosecone w/ LWP.
THese variables would help folks give you an idea maybe.
Wish you would make one for a yamaha 3 cylinder 25/30.:D
Would sell like hot cakes down here in duck huntin areas where those motors are more important that your drivers license.
What catagory does yamalube fall into?
I can say this about Arkansas filling stations: Our state regs are not sufficient and that is all i will say.
Ballistic - Thanks - PM headed your way. - I was tryin to avoid international shipping costs!
Who builds custom velocity stacks? Need some to go on my tohatsu 40.
Thats all/ Thanks.
Not at 180 compression on my motor. Mid 150's.
Tested that fuel thru a different motor and actually lost 1 mph and the VP tech said that the fuel is so oxygenated that you almost always have to...
Thanks - My motor has a WOT timing setting and an idle timing setting that can be adjusted to user's desired spec. Also, the carbs im using have optional larger main jets or I can bore them out a...
I had a CMC PL-65 high speed on a war eagle 1542 with a DT25C longshaft motor. The longshaft was a must as the motor would kick up without hitting anything.
Really, yea i gained top speed of about...
How many of you have tried VP Motorsport 109 or other VP fuels on outboards?
From the manufacturer website about Motorsport 109:
Recommended for applications with CRs up to 15:1. In engines...
30 HP 3 cylinder 496 CC Yamaha. Thanks.
What other manufacturer's are there for 2 stroke outboard pistons? Motor is a 30 HP 3 cylinder.
I did view the Vertex website and it appears they do not make pistons for small outboards such as...
The reason I'm asking is my buddy races dirt bikes and super bikes and says people in his industry stear clear of them if possible. He didnt go into specifics but I would like to hear from some...
I have a couple Merc 9.9's (1 electric start and 1 manual) and am not sure on the year model (around early to mid 90's is my best guess) but am wondering if I can convert them to a 15 by replacing...
Which would you rather have and why?
