I don't disagree with the date of Will's win, note the question mark behind 1970. But no one has posted confirming my guess that the pix is Bill Janz!!
Looks like Bill Janz a boat builder and race official to me. My partner, Erv Julien, bought his first DSH from Wil Pergande who had won the nationals with it in 1970 ?Which was a Janz boat.
He is still writing articles for the AOMCI magazine.
Blue Star Made a BU in the fifties and had a factory team that raced them with some success in Kansas. The boat was named of coarse "Rivets". If I remember the Driver was a Black Gentleman.
56253I had a Champion kit AU/BU that my Dad and I built. This was the day that you could start stock racing building a kit boat and buying a ready to go actual racing motor from a local dealer. It...
I saw the vented transoms on Craig's boats during the summer that Craig and Lee Sutter spent in Wisconsin, mid 70's I think, building boats. John Puestow asked me to design and build a CSR for him so...
I had trouble posting the pix, here goes again.
I started getting interested in boat racing when I was around 12 years old in 1951. My neighbor on our lake in Wisconsin got a used Speedliner Marathon DU and a KG9 with standard lower unit for his...
In regard to Craigs DSH boats, my racing partner, Adios Racing Team, Erv Julien, 69 W, replaced his 1st boat , a Janz Hydro he bought from Wil Pergande after the 1970 Beloit Nationals, with a...
If Normy was 3rd, maybe he could fill in some of the details. I know he's a subscriber to your web.
Well it was a good story but I appreciate your research, Don was always there in both C and D runabout!!!
I had Gary Stippich's 5-W , a 1969 Stippich Quack "floater" which had the widest nose and a gull wing V in front built by Carl for Gary's return from the armed services. It was a big course boat...
I am very interested in the results at 1969 Hinton Nationals, especially DU. Been trying for years as I think I have the winning boat. Do you know results and can you photo the entry list and post it...
Sorry for my senior moment but I had a 1969, not 1959, Stippich DSR Quack floater which was built for Gary, but I enjoyed your History. Now, can anyone tell me where the 1969 Nationals was held and...
Ron, you mention 1959 Seattle Nationals so you must have memory of results. I have been trying to find out who won DSR at 59 nationals which I thought was in Hinton but obviously wrong. I was told...
If someone doesn't have the video, I'd settle for the results, especially DSR
Johnny Craven's 290 C looks like a Champion Hull from Long Beach as I think I can Remember it featured in a Champion ad which I used to buy a Kit AB from them in 1962(??). The logo on the aft side...
On Previous post, Neosha 3 attachment is to small to read. I'm a lousy typer and would take me all day to type over so open attachment and hit print preview and enlarge to 100 % and you'll be able to...
I am attaching a writeup I compiled on Hydroracer's forum on what went wrong with stock as it contains a history of the 20 H progression and the battles with the Hot Rod, both legal and on the race...
