Are you sure? 190 sounds a bit much for just 1mm off the head...

workcar's point is the way to go.. .060inch? I wouldn't dare to take that much off.
Note that the more setback you have, the higher you can raise your engine.
This is what i mean:

I think im gonna give this a go because i am currently running a 50horse with 70 carbs and i think the reedcages are a big...
Thanks for the info.
But i mean a 2 petal reedcage in total. just 2 big reeds. One on the left and one on the right.Wouldnt that be more effecient?
Which parts do you take from a 85/90? The...
Hi Karl,
Dit you get this 6 petal reed cage off a different motor or did you create it yourself?
Wouldnt making a 2 petal reed cage be more efficient?
Thats funny, I experienced a way more "alive" motor with the round carbs.
Depends on other mods i guess which is best.
Also got these available for Yamaha 40/50 and 60/70 carbs

Disagree, The round bowl ones run harder here... They burn the fuel harder too :)
A Google on the part number shows it over 10 times.
You could have easily figured this out yourself.
Looking nice bud.
Why no 70hp carbs?
Yeah, hopefully this thread will run a while.
To bad there are still people around who try to kill this thread by insulting other people who are just sharing thier opinion.
I'll just be the...
@ima75man: I dont do anything with OMC engines. This is the Yamaha 40/50 thread so that is what i was talking about :)
"stuffing the crank"
Yeah i haven't heard about that before.
You...
To start off, Note that doing certain stuff to a standart block won't improve performance.
Snipping the rev limiter won't give you extra power, specially if you where not hitting it in the first...
Sounds like a plan. Who is stopping you? Go for it!
Been there done that.
Open the tiller. The handle drives a gear that on an axle. Turn that gear around to the other side of the axle.
You will lose the shift function.
This topic is awesome :)
Topic starter has a stock block and asks what kinda RPM he may swing it.
Then everyone starts telling him 8000rpm (which will kill his block fast and he wants it to last)...
Either way, thier tacho's must be setup wrong if they are reading 8000rpms..
By the way, the yamaha's run out of thier port timing above 6000rpm soon so youll actually lose power if you run it...
I wasn't talking to anyone except the topicstarter. Seeying him stating that he wants the engine to last i was just warning him that 8k of RPM's will kill his engine in no-time. Plus it has no use at...
Don't listen to that. total bs.
I do believe the 1994 and older blocks are a bit better/stronger then the newer ones.
Replace the stock metal reeds by CCM ones and 6500 would be doable but it...
6H4 is a 40HP engine.
Check if your carbs say 6H5 and if the tuner is square.

I'm pretty sure there is no length difference in the 15 and 20" tuners.
The 50 tuner on...
Thats funny, My 50 carbs look way different (bigger)
I was wondering on how to adjust the timing. I am giving my 40hp some mods too and i want to advance timing but i have no idea how.
Could u...
Nice. What kinda carbs are those?
Can u tell me something more about the timing? how to you measure and adjust it?
