well said,, better not under estimate mike white, seen a video of mike running in the 70's mph range.
phil, you the most negative person on this web site. when i see your name on here i skip the page.
and when in doubt, trim it out.
well said
fred, clear out a spot for me.
maybe find some 90 yamaha carbs. or 50 mariner carbs.
that's a little bit different than i thought it would be.. thanks looks like it will work
i build my nose cone out of bondo and then seal it with good primer
check out a 70 h/p carb off a 56 inch.
don't think you can hurt the moter,it's got needle bearing and roller bearing. guess you got the 2.42 gear rato? find some 70 h/p arbs. i run a 13 3/4 dia x 27 pitch at way over 7000 rpms, my boat...
maybe the one off of a sst-60 would work. i think they are unlimited.
wouldn't know about 19 degree starting don't know anybody krazy enough to be on the water, unless you picking up frozen mullet ..lol ps everybody with a 59 in merc are happy happy happy
tuner are all the same, i have try all kinds even elbow shape. it's all in what you like the best. the factory has spent a few bucks on tuning, i now run a factory tuner..
i surely ain't guna admit nothing, maybe i got the numbers wrong. maybe it's 75 mph.lol i ain't telling nothing. just for fun racing is what happening around here. like to thank brf's for making it...
all this trailer racing going on. my boat runs 57 mph in a short distance turns lots of rpm's.lot of 80 mph boats can't beat me.i don't race gps's. i race boats.tachs and gps's are great tools, but...
i hope you enjoy your hot rod merc, be safe and ride with a smile.
good looking gear case
just a thought, made adapter plate and find a nitro lower unit with 1.87 gears ratio wouldn't be hard to make.
sounds good to me...the problem some have they cheat themselves,
on a good race boat just a quess 6 to 10 % maybe 8 %.on a speed boat don't know to many varible to consider. just one person opinion
a lesson i learned early in life, never bet against the man making the bet.he knows something u don't.
o.k. i like trick question. 29.8 mph at 8 % slip.. u might have faster water than we got over here.. or 32.1 at .01 % slip..
well the usa is just a country like yours, nothing is perfect not the people or the factory that make products, as americans we understand. we are simple folks living live with what freedom we have...
i don't know anyone that would led you down the wrong path. u can buy a new jackplate for $135.00 from vance mfg. as far as mike white he dont drink moonshine, but he does drive the church bus on...
down here in the south,i've seen some big horse power on small jackplates rated for about 150 h/p. if a 260 merc with a 200 shot of nos, wont break a small jack plates, don't think a 70 h/p can hurt...
mike let the man lay down in the bottom of the gator boat and hold on to his gps, sometimes u have to prove a point.
if 100 hundred people witness a car wreck, you would have 100 hundred different answer to what happen. lots of people draw outside of the lines, don't mean they wrong, do whatever that works for you.
the first thing i do with a new to me moter, i use a gps, stop watch, along with the tach. i run every prop i can find .i adjust the height of my moter every 1/8 of a inch until i find the best spot. ...
maybe you should send your mercury to hydrotec, and let them speed it up. 88workcar runs against the fastest boats in la. and texas and don't have to back up to anyone..it's what it is..
u right, u starting a fire.lol my 60 h/p omc is faster than my 90 yamaha.. just ask donnie or the bama boyz..
thanks mr. Gohr sounds like bp got some cheap gas. It only happened in the yamaha, doesn't seem to bother the omc. weird stuff. i noticed that after mixing 110 octane with 93 (e) gas, that seems to...
what i don't understand only the yamaha has this problem, i run the same gas in weedeater, lawnmower truck omc. no e gas is only 89 octane. quess i'll start using it. only 75 cent a gallon more.....
thanks for all the answers.. that e stuff is nasty.
yes on the E.. sometimes it's 6 weeks between running. only the yamaha does it.. my omc's never has this problem. no,on the stabilizer. thinkin that's the problem? buying gas from a bp station..
ran my 90 yamaha today, wouldn't stay running. done a plug check, bottom cylinder plug was dry. removed the carbs and all 3 carbs had a gel like stuff in the bowls, never have this problem on my...
looks great, like to see the other side
back in the day,i think everyone was about 10 to 15 mph faster than the 500 lb. gps we run today..
88 workcar he's your man when you get the bugs out of it.. let me know, we can see who quicker out of the hole...
if racers spent more time on props and setup, they would be faster than most racers modifying their moters.
what are the compression numbers.. i had a problem like this years ago.i readjusted the carb linkage and replaced one coil, could be a carb problem, maybe someone forgot to reinstall the little washer...
why would you lose on bottom end? how about mid-range? i thought everybody ran stock moters.....i found out just modifying a stock tuner would help some..
seems like the mariner small gearcase wont hold up under the drag racing we do. we all are running stock powerheads, quess i might be speaking for my self. the 90 lower unit never seems to give a...
jason's, right about that,i got a short one,it takes a lot of trimming to make the 90 pump work. next time i'll cut a long shaft
proof is in the pudding.....
think the formula e, came years later. think 78 or 79 had the checker flag design, next might have been the formula e.. too many moons ago..smoking joe would probably know.............out
of coarse.. good little moters,, some of the early moters had electric shift lower units, it's easy to make a short out of it..
under the 65 on back on cowl, it says mean machine
