Can you tell me what's the dif in weight ,between the running POWERHEADS , of a
75 hp 49 in OMC ;and a 90 HP yamaha ? It seems to me that a sport E boat or a mod 50 boat , with a stock 90 yammy...
I am pretty sure that both units has the SAME gear ratio.

[QUOTE=Mark75H;104695]Its because carbs work by vacuum. If your carb is too big, there will be no vacuum and no fuel mixed with all that air the large hole lets in.
That is what sets the...
It is my opinion that you will get MORE air through the 1" carbs; why? Because you will get higher velocity , therefore more air. And, that's because your motor cant suck air with the same velocity...

My buddy- "MercMack" had about same problem with Boyeson reeds for his 3 cylinder merc 700. He called Boyeson and they did exchange the reeds to the correct reeds . again; the part # on package was...
[QUOTE=88workcar;98321]Just in reading it seems that the comparable evenrude would be the 60sst, when did it come out and how did it fair against the 650xs?...................................
How fast did it go on THIS run ?
You might think I didn't like Chryslers- ? I did like them , I had a 3 cylinder 70 horse on a pontoon boat . REAL good motor . They just had lousy lower units. (performance wise ).I happen to think,...
Chrysler had no motor suitable for "G" it would not be allowed in that class ,anyway, because the motor was a 3 cylinder w/72.39 cu. in. Making it eligible for "H" class. The 4 cylinder had 96.55...

I watched a few heats on SATURDAY. I have passed by the lake literally HUNDREDS of times in the past, on my way to Oroville(visiting my late wife's family) ; had never attended a RACE there . What a...
Something that I THINK nobody has mentioned ; the rotary engines (omc race) must have been incredibly smooth running , I would think . Any comments from any of you drivers who raced ,using the rotary...
I forgot to mention; from the top of the transom to the bottom of the tunnel, the height (was) on my boat 24"-that's what it needs to run free- no drag from the gearcase. For TOP speed- about 24-25"...
[QUOTE=Riverrat001;90635]Can someone tell me the approximate prop shaft height to start
trying for an sst 60 for a river toy. I don't intend on racing except for fun................................
[QUOTE=MN1;84632]Would this type of gearcase have been used in the 36 class?...
I think he's asking about the gear shift units , like those on the 70.7 cube 60 horse v-4 and 90 cube v-4 (75 horse) from 1960-68, before the prop -exhaust units came out . You know, the pointed nose...
I thought aluminum comes from Bauxite ore -the most common on earth, but expensive to
process (uses MUCH electrical power ) and magnesium is extracted from SALT water.
It might help ....if you say which brand of motor you have in mind .
will there be a part 4 ? or has the 4 rotor racing powerhead story been told , completely , already ? This is SO fascinating to me . it seems to me that , w/turbocharging a 4 rotor could put out over...
[QUOTE=Fast Fred;74637]thanks David_L6, the tuna specs change for the SLT, but thats cool, guna take some measurements, i don't want to short change it out of any drive...
Flywheel, to make sure the magnets have NO rust on em. A little can ruin the spark. sand them clean, if necessary . Sometimes we forget this.
just waiting on the Aussie dollar to get stronger so its cheaper for me to buy the parts from the States!...
An SST 45 lower unit don't need a nose cone .
Like I said in the personal message I sent you, You ought to have your own LITTLE foundry to cast small aluminum parts .
[QUOTE=Fast Fred;70408]?, just the way it works, not an engineer my self, but that box of melted pistons

another thought . i think that one is supposed to inflate tires , according to the load they are carrying. it seems we ought to get a tire pressure list from the tire manufacturer , that would list...
I read ,a couple years ago, an article about boat trailer tires, in Walleye & bass boats MAG. ,and it said that you should NOT use Radial tires on a boat trailer. Just "boat trailer tires !"
I...
[QUOTE=Fast Fred;69948]the top of the wheel leans out at the top (to far) so the force is on the outside edge of the tire. did you stuff the curb?:cool.............................................
yes, now that you mention alignment- My welding truck ; a Ford F-350's front tires were wearing like that . i checked the toe in - out - it was 5/16" OUT of specks !
You said it's LOCAL use . i think that means a lot of sharp turns that a highway rig would not necessarily get.Dual axles SKID tires in turns . That may be (or maybe not ) yer problemo ! ?

Well, easy or not- it sure seems that if Mercury had had a competitive motor , they would have jumped into the OE , after all we know that Merc has NEVER been shy about advertising their victories ....
I'd bet that Mercury must have been jealous of OMC "highjacking" the OE worlds champ in 1978 ,I guess they (Merc) didn't think of it -or they didn't have a really competitive motor ?
O K , i'll bite . What did the PRO nats have to do with the O P C nats ? I'm not being critical, i am just curious . Because i never heard of O M C doing anything in the pro's. Maybe i'm just...
I just found these pics , lookin for "something ELSE" ; had not seen them in over 30 years .
