Right you are John. The pants are a big part of the clue. Do you know who the older guy is John. He was always around the major races, but I can't come up with a name.

The names that have come to the forefront are Dick Austin and his dad , I sent them a message to confirm.

That's funny. When I first saw the name Leet Sutter, I thought the striped pants did seem like his style. I liked the pic of the crankshaft assembly- didn't know that 6s had small petal reeds like that.

    Sam,
I had that thought as well, but thinking that it was Austin, he would have tried them.

You got it right. That's my dad, Owen, and I. Trying to remember where, must have been Alex La. The only time I tore that engine down at a race site. It locked up the top main bearing. I just don't remember working on a cylinder that day.
Lee and I must have had the same good taste in pants. My favorite, tan with purple stipe's and bell bottoms. Remember it was the seventies.

The guy on the left is Ray Hardy from Des Plaines Il. Not sure of the other guy. Almost looks like a race on the Chicago lakefront basin. It had really steep banks that were very treacherous to get down to water level.

Dan M, the second guy is a young John Winzeler with Ray Hardy at the Turning Basin in Chicago.
Big Money race, real bad pits. This was an Outboard Club of Chicago race, August 23, 1970, I won $91.42 for a 1st and a 5th.

You can't miss that smile on the face of Ray Hardy Bill. I was going to say John Winzler and when I read your post, I knew I was right.
