    Default remove exhaust guide on 25hp yamaha?

    Im working on a motor for a friend and had to pull the head and noticed an exhaust guide that is held on by one bolt. If i pull it out it opens the exhaust hole and Im curious as to if it would be benifitial to remove it. anybody know anything about it? by the way, its an 87' 25 yamaha 2 cyl.

    if i had to guess i would say it wouldnt help, but maybe even hurt, but i figured i'd ask.

    Default Exhaust guide

    That item's task is to quiet the exhaust at idle. Removing it will probably not improve power.
