    Default fibreglass repair

Hey guys, so i have just taken my boat out, did 78mph, best speed to date, have an electrical issue and had to be towed back, alot of water came into the boat, upon inspection the top deck has lifted off the bottom in the back LH corner, must have been when i had an almost flip early march.. and landed awkward.

Looking at it, the deck isnt pop riveted on.. appears to have "something" between lip of top deck and bottom...

question is: what is used to hold them together?

    any help apprectiated

I've seen anything from silicone to glass and resin....If it was me I wpuld cut about a 3" wide piece of glass, ( mesh) and goop resin on it then roll it between the upper and lower piecesd of the boat....then call it a day.....

Take a photo from the inside of the deck join and I'm sure some of us could indentify the join technology

hey guys thanks for the reply, i have been advised its resin with something in it, i took a piece of it out.. looks like honey comb.. mate said sometimes they add talcomb powder in the resin???

either way im not running this weekend coming by the looks of it.. boat will be stripped and repaired.

i think i could have easily done 80mph today as i wasnt pushing it that hard when it stopped.. stator needs replacing from what i have found.

Yep sounds like old low tech aussie boat building.
    It heavy and brittle.
How to repair though depends on the hull to deck join design
