    Default Sport Derby Corpus Christi

Got to watch the Tri Hulls run for the first time today at the marina in Corpus Christi. It was one of the scheduled events at the Texas International Boat Show. The show itself had a few less big yachts than the past two years, but it was still a great show, with lots and lots of boats and all things boating to look at. Lots of food and beverages too....plus classic cars and custom motorcycles.

I went to watch the tri hulls. Here's a few pics to start with. Names later...but whoever wants to jump in first and list the names and comments....go ahead. The Lexington "the blue ghost" is in the background where the boats are heading up to form up for the start. It was one of the most decorated carriers in WWII, but it is not very well known. It has some interesting stuff aboard if you ever get down this way you might want to check it out. Dockside from the Lexington is the Texas National Aquarium.

    Is this an APBA race?
Since 1925, about 150 different racing outboards have been made.

Checked the sanction ... yes it was.

Someone needs to point out the APBA helmet rule to the racers and the referee.

Almost all of those helmets are not legal under the rules.

The guys with legal helmets should demand the rule violators be DQ'ed!

    Default Change the Rule!

These guys are strapped in same as capsules. Capsule rule differ......The boats, the motors and the helmets look WAY GOOD. That one Tri Hull way in the background looks like it might not turn well on tight courses.

I just read the rules, capsule rule for helmets is the same as unrestrained:

During any race, every participant must wear a competition helmet and life jacket as defined in General Safety Rules 3A and 3B
They are not exempt from the color rules ... even if they think they are.

No, I was wrong ... they are exempt, sort of:

    1) For a participant who is restrained in the cockpit, it is recommended that a majority of the helmet be painted with a fluorescent red,
yellow or orange; or international orange. There is no specified area, but the helmets must be of a bright color so as to be clearly visible
    in the water.
Some of them are not legal ... "bright color"

Default Too Bad Buddy Babitt is Alive...

Buddy could paint great helmets and make great t shirts....

APBA and the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT has too many rules.......

If you look at APBA.............and the American government you see many of the same problems. Both may need to fail, before things improve!

Is TRI HULL a National class now?

    What's the kilo record???

ADD: Sam Cullis wrong???????????? That is like saying a HILL was wrong.....we sure as hell won't admit it, if we were ever wrong!
