I have the same boat w/ Yamaha pro-v 50,it does 65mph.....you should be around 40-45mph,try jacking the motor and talk to Mr.Hill about a prop...
How about an SST60 motor.
i think ditching the tohatsu and buying a better motor is the ticket. i need to find someone in socal selling one.
What is boat length ?
Argo Cat 18 - Sold
Merc 2.4EFI/CLE - Sold
11 feet and the motor hangs off another foot. So from the very front to the motor mount measures 12 ft
If you wanna go like mad the advice givens it. If you were ok with more out of that 30 Id bet its there. # 1 & or 2 prop & set up. Then research the motor for speed advantage, does it have a rev-limiter?, is it a de-tuned version of a more powerful model? It will of course have limits but 35mph & hard to get on plane sounds like a 'fishing prop' too shallow. Cant get a good look in the pics.
i would put a 50 tohatsu or 40m merc (slightly modded) with a 11x21 (minimum) cleaver. a mod 40 merc with a good prop will push that boat well into the 70's. "Jackson" has a lil red one that will fly.
i have tried several different pitched props (all aluminum). i agree a better prop would help, but probably not enough. currently, the boat cavitates very easily so i think if i raised the motor this problem would only get worse. as for performance upgrades i have not been able to find much info for the tohatsu. i am sure this is a standard fishing / run of the mill motor. At wot rpms are at 5100 to 5400
is that a 10 spline or 13 spline and were are you located?
