Great Info Steve. Those forward cockpit Avon Cats proved to be a good innovation to tunnel boat design,as shown in the late 70s,early 80s.
Such a shame that Bill and Cesare pasted in there primes. With there input on design, boats could have been quite different

Sorry Steve,I also meant to add,With regard to Bills 104mph kilo average.89 one way, 118 the other.
29mph difference? I cant really work that out considering the speeds of the other entries being around
    the 90mph mark.

We started Bills practice early morning for this speed attempt did a few runs to bed his new powerhead in for a short while. This new boat had 2inch steps quite a way back it was new and had only had one practise run on the river Avon. When Bill was satisfied with the set up of his boat at Windermere he did two runs and that engine screamed as he went passed we new it was likely to blow and it did.Bill made a phone call back to Nick at his factory in Tewksbury had them remove the Johnson powerhead from his 19ft marathon boat that had finished the Paris 6HR race 2 weeks before then had them travel 300 miles to Windermere fit it then do a speed run before the circuit closed that day.So all in all he never had time to try anymore runs but was perfectly happy with his results and new all the other boats were way behind in speed?
