    Looking forward to more
    Since 1925, about 150 different racing outboards have been made.

    Fantastic! Without guys like you having the money, time, and mostly ability and love of the sport, we would be a less blessed community. Also look forward to progress reports.

    Default Update

    Thanks for the comments! It's what I love - so you do it???

    Anyway - the boat is completely de-rigged and is now sanded down to the original red color. It looks so much better in red. The boat is in absolutely fantastic condition!! Yeah!! Ed Karelsen alway's built the boats to last the test of time and this one surely has. Thanks to Gary also for storing it inside and preserving it so well. All of the rigging is getting sent out to either be polished or powdercoated. All of the hardware will be replaced with new "Stuff". The gearcase and midsection are being taken apart - and rebuilt to better than new. When we are done this boat will not only be back to original condition - but better. Maybe another run???????????????

    May I ask;
    Are you the owner or are you performing the restoration for the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum?

    That's an incredible piece you're renovating! Not many people truly know how spectacular this boat and the record it set really are (I didn't). I recently talked to Alex Hledin about building me motors to go after this longstanding record with a new Dan Ellison outrigger hydro. Alex told me that unless I had a million dollars and didn't care if I lived any longer that it was best that I don't attempt it. Since he was part of the record setting team, I listened to what he said and quickly scrapped any ideas I had about going after the world outboard speed record! Good luck with your renovation and please post plenty of pictures as progress is made.

    Hey - that really is "Freeway's" trailer and I gave him that name BTW.
