    Default Inside Jokes...

Hey Kermit SST 45, I'm not great on "Inside Jokes"............but I did miss the "FREE WAY" sign on the trailer.

Do you mind posting about "Free Way"???

His real name is or was Jim Avala??? He was Seattle's Ted May!

SWM Jake, if you don't own this boat who does??? Is it being restored to looks, or is their a KILO ATTEMPT in the future???

FYI....I can get the water anytime for a kilo attempt!

When the guy shows up in a Corvett towing a boat you gotta wonder. Jimmy is a great guy just marches to his own drummer.

    Greg,
Is that down at the shop or at home?

Any history as to why they painted the boat white between the record and its hanging up in the Florida restaurant?

Can you tell us what the boat weighs?

Do you know the Diameter and Pitch of the prop?

Can you post a picture of the tunnel?

A few of these kilo boats have gone back out to up their record and blown over. Odds working against it perhaps?

Not sure why - probably only Gary would know that?

Can you tell us what the boat weighs? Bare boat with Capsule - I would guess about 500 Lbs.

My V-6 Race motor complete weighs 390 lbs - probably add another 60 lbs to that for a V-8 - and all the hardware batteries etc.. probably weigh another 150Lbs. Just guessing though.

Do you know the Diameter and Pitch of the prop? No idea??

Can you post a picture of the tunnel? There is no tunnel???

A few of these kilo boats have gone back out to up their record and blown over. Odds working against it perhaps? Any a few have gone out and blown over - having never set a record.

Perhaps I mis spoke. I know its a Hydro not a "tunnel" boat

I was curious as to the fore and aft shape of the bottom of the hull from between the bow and the stern in the area between the sponsons.

Which V6 race motor do you have? Mercury F1/F2 motors weigh right around 275 complete and a Mercury 2.5/280 ROS weighs 375. And I'm guessing that hydro is quite a bit lighter than 500 lbs, seeing as a full capsule F1/F2 tunnel boat only weighs 380 before rigging/motor. I was told that little hydro is super light!

I remember seeing in one of videos of the record attempt that this boat used a right hand prop. Anyone else catch that?

The under side or "tunnel" is suprisingly simple. Has a very difinitive upward "break" from just aft of the back of the sponsons. One curiosity is how the sponson ride pads are 'scalloped". I figure it had something to do with keeping the boat planted nose down at speed. I believe they used a billet prop as it was too risky to use a cast or welded one. I also thought it was very innovative, and safe, to steer the boat with a rudder instead of with the engine.
