    Default B and H SST 70 Boat

I've commited to buy a B and H SST 70 from Vic Brinkman......It is a firm deal, so anything you say (good or bad) is OK.

I was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge about this boat.

My goal, is to use the boat as a
PLUG" fo a MOD 60 Classs. I plan to add side pods, like UIM Formula One has.

My secondl question, also, is about the SEEBOLD SE boats that were built for Bill Muncey's "RACE of CHAMPIONS".... Does anyone know the tunnel width, deepest part, shallowest part...and boat length...?

    Thanks in advance!

    Ron,

You should check with Bruce Borquin to see if he still has the molds for the SST-60 boat that he built 15 years ago. It was a good, safe, fast design.
Or if you really want to build the "Right" boat you can use my plans that I have for the SST-60 boat. They are what has dominated the class for the last 10 years.

I would have to agree with Jake, I actually owned his 1996 boat that I bought from Andy Felton when he raced and let me tell you that boat was fast and turned on a dime in the corners. The boat was built so light it was a rocket! I never got the true story on the boat just knew Jake built and raced it! The boat that you are taking about buying was a 70 boat and when raced with us beat us and we beat it also. We were running stock 60 motors and the b&h was running a highly modified v6 with 3 cylinders plug( ex opc chairman Mike W built the motor. The boat would be great for a mod class but not a stock 60 class. Jake if you can chime in on the 60 I owned of yours it was a 96 Seebold cell and your bottom like the Pittman design( I believe it was the first with the rolled sides) Also Doesn't Carole Reno run one of your old boats still today and runs darn fast! Also Jakes old boat I had ran me to the 2003 US1 in the 70 class

    Default Hey

Ya Chris that was my boat. I sold Paul a frame kit off our plans for the first boat he built - it was identical to mine. Then he starting selling plans for the boat after that - and I believe built a couple himself. The boat that Sam Labanco and Brent Dillard have came from those same original plans - via Paul. That boat was the culmination of about 15 Sport E and SST-60 boats that Ed Karelsen and I built in my racing days'. When I was done racing I sold the boat to Randy Minch - then I guess you got it from him?

I actually bought it from Andy Felton in 2003 he must have bought it from Randy, I put new bottom and decks(what a pain those decks were) and ran it 2003 and it was fast and would turn when I wanted it to. The Story I got about the boat was that you ran it and it was fast as hell and then you put in on shore somewhere then sold, is that true? I wish I had that boat back it could win again if was redone again!

    Default Thanks, For The Info...

The last time I talked business with Bruce of Gran Prix boats, was the last time I will talk business with Bruce.

Bruce and Fred Bowden are good friends and Bruce seems to be and esy going person, but...

I called Bruce and said, "I have two sons racing 45's and both are driving Gran Prix boats. I'd like to order a new boat or two. I said when can you get me a boat?" Bruce's answer was, "I don't know." I said, "How much will a bpoat cost?" He said, "I don't know." I said, "Thanks,"... and hung up. I ordered a new Revolution 45 that night.

Now, I've taken a different direction...I plan to build some "ONE DESIGN" boats, all nON APBA Classes.

Jake, I'd love to have the measuements off your boat (s).

Jimbo McConnell told me, that his MOD 50 Molinari, had many of the same measurements as the Bill Muncey SE Boats.

I don't see a 60 MPH boat with a Chinese four stroke as the futre of boat racing....I have my own "DREAMS" and my own goals... and as the cash flow allows, I'll follow my dreams.....

A MOD three cylinder OMC on a short midsection and a 45 type gearcase could be a very cool running boat...

Default Bruce and I Get Along Fine...

I go to Fred Bowden's we eat, we drink, we talk, we emjoy...I don't think Bruce wants to build boats....and I know his molds are very different than any of my molds...

BUT Jake, I will take you up on your offer to give me some bottom measurements...

My Sport C is ready for the deck, and Fidencio has the deck cowling 'PLUG" finished and gelcoated. I will be picking the Sport C up at Ernie Dawe's next Friday. I really plan this as a" FAT C", but may race Sport C (Legal) in Region 11.

My "sit down" C Hydro will use the same cowling as the Sport C....This is going to be "WAY COOL"...a little wing on the back like the H1 Hydros......12', a little long for C Hydro....but I don't care!

The COR 2.0 is being readied for the deck mold to be finished soon.....

The SST 70 Boat can use the same cowling lines as the Sport C...

    I'll have my own fleet....
