    Default Old NOA Racing Photos

    Hi All,

We now have posted over at the QuincyLooperRacing.us web site approximately 250 old NOA (National Outboard Association) photos. All are from the Claude Fox collection and some of the photos appeared in the NOA's Rooster Tail publications over the years. The outboard racing photos date from the 1930's to early 1970's and you will find many famous racers are included. Names such as Fred Jacoby, Bill Holland, Dub Parker, Bill Seebold, Jerry Waldman, Dick O'Dea, Harry Brinkman, Ted May, Bill Tenney, Dick Pond, Marshall Grant, Dan & Mel Kirtz, Clyde Wiseman (Wiseco Pistons), Ralph DeSilva, Jack Maypole and many, many more.

Here is a small sample of the photos. To see the entire collection, go to
    www.QuincyLooperRacing.us

Click on the Racing Legends tab, then Claude Fox's photo album pages 1, 2 and 3.

Outboard racing has such a rich heritage, and we are trying to do our small part to help preserve this special history for others to enjoy. If you can identify some of the boat racers or race locations not yet identified, please email us at QuincyWelding@aol.com

    Regards,

    Paul

The quick and easy answer was 1972, although there was a little bit of activity in 1973 for OPC and maybe a couple other. The reason being that NOA was no longer performing up to standards of it's excellent past. AOF was forming up at the same time as an alternative to NOA and most of the NOA went with APBA, although there was a lot of cross activity in the midwest between both.

Does anyone remember the AOF Sport Boats back in the early 1970's? They raced GW Invaders, Allison's, Deltas, Sidewinders, and Tunnel Boats. Drivers were Dave West, Don McAfee, Greg Ruth, Bobby Sanders, George Osborne, Gary Tuttle, Ed Caudle, Ricky Daniel, Larry Morgan, Larry Mayo, Gary Grammar, Jack Lockaby, Dudley Malone, Danny McGuire and many more. Most races were held at Lake Overholser in Bethany, OK or Oklahoma City. Any body????
