Maybe 6 out of the 30 something they built had issues. For the most part, they where fast and had no problems. I blew my 45 over and had nothing structural wrong. Just the usual pickle, mirror and canope. Was able to run next heat. Before that, someone ran into the side of me. Only damage was rear cowling, engine cowling and bent steering bar, no hole in the deck or side. Was also able to run next heat. Lets put this stuff in the past seeing how Revolution is out of business and no longer building boats. Enough bickering about the past.

I think the class would work if BRP made a short shaft Etec 3 cyl

The class has motors waiting to be delivered in the US ... we need boats, not motors
Since 1925, about 150 different racing outboards have been made.

we need a series that can attract new racers .... Not 3 different clubs trying to race the same classes the same weekends and back to back weekends

I think APBA should have gone into conserve and preserve mode, not grand death spiral

Default Future of the project uncertain!

    APBA’s one-design tunnel boat class
by Mark Wheeler, APBA Vice President

    At the 2009 National Meeting,
    the APBA Board of Directors
    voted to support a one-design
    (spec) tunnel boat class.
The goal was to provide new racers with a “turnkey”
rig using a Mercury 60 HP four stroke outboard and a
composite tunnel boat. Engines were purchased and a
    boat builder was selected.
After many delays, APBA has parted ways with the
    boat builder.
A committee made up of David Augustine, Chris
Fairchild, Fred Hauenstein, Steve Hearn and myself
has been charged by the APBA Board of Directors with
making recommendations on the future of the project.
At the time of this writing, no decisions have been
made. We will inform the membership of any actions
by the committee and the Board of Directors.

Default But What About The Contract????

I did a little checking just for fun:

    1. A 60 HP FormulaRace motor is $6895 and is a 2006 legal motor and weighs 247 pounds...

    2. A 50 HP Tohatsu cost $5,375 and weight 205 pounds....2006 Direct Injection two stroke..

To start a ONE DESIGNED Class, I'll bet IF SOMEONE went to Tohatsu, from an organization like APBA they could get a better deal than $5,375 per motor....This Tohatsu is $1,500 cheaper than a Mercury!

Doesn't Merc own part of Tohatsu?

Default Own It Out Right, I Think...

I think Mercury owns Tohatsu out right...I just looked up a BRP 50 E-Tec Envinrude $5,700 on line price and 240 pounds.....
