Default Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix 6/30 - 7/3

27th Annual Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix

This is a huge gathering of super boat racers and fans. Crowd estimates for this weekend's events are upwards of 100,000 people, including visitors from all over the United States and also some from as far away as Europe.

The 27th Annual Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix Festival benefits the Suncoast Charities for Children. “Sarasota is one of the longest continuously running race sites in the country and a premier race site on the 2011 National Series points schedule”, says John Carbonell President of Super Boat International. This year there are plenty of free events for the entire family to enjoy. A full event schedule with details can be found by visiting the Festival web site www.suncoastoffshore.org/

There are events scheduled this entire week. It started off with a golf tournament and classic car show last weekend. This Thursday evening (June 30th) is the popular boat parade through downtown Sarasota. Afterwards is a huge downtown block party with live bands, vendors, food and dancing. Then on Friday and Saturday (July 1st & 2nd) the super boats and teams will be set up in Centennial Park at the bay front from 10 am until 9 pm for fans to visit the race teams for autographs and photos. Fans can also participate in other events, which include a motorcycle run/show Saturday morning and a bikini contest Saturday afternoon, and enjoy the live bands, food and vendors. The actual super boat races start on Sunday 11 am off the shores of Lido Beach. Check the suncoastoffshore.org web site for final race course updates and beach locations for viewing.

The super boat grand prix is being covered by local newspapers as well as by nearby St. Pete and Tampa papers. Local and Tampa TV stations are also providing coverage of the races. This is a huge community/area event.
