My Dad and I had the pleasure to meet Jack Marshall as well, and he spent a night or two at our house in 1968. He and my Dad corresponded up until he quit racing.

"Kiwi' Kim Newcombe raced in Australia in the late 60's while working as an outboard mechanic, and in between racing bikes. He became fascinated with the power coming from a small outboard engine...a Konig. He moved to Berlin and was given charge of developing the Konig powerplant for motorcycle racing. While testing, racing, redesigning, rebuilding and more racing on the GP Circuit in the European "Continental Circus" Dieter had him also racing "flunderen" (outboard hydroplanes). He and Dieter also won their class in the 6 Hours of Paris one year. He persuaded Dieter to let him stick to the motorcycles so he could get all the bugs out. He was tragically killed at Silverstone in 1973 in a short lived but brilliant motorcycle racing career.
