    Looks deadly

How tall is it from bullet to clamp?
Since 1925, about 150 different racing outboards have been made.

Default I Don't Think It Got Tested.

Looks like the transom is about 4 inches too high, maybe six.... Looks like the boat needs to be completely re-rigged.

Yes, the motor was put on this new SST-60 boat just to show it off to the racers. Roddy Foreman is taking the motor home to put on an older SST-60 boat he has. And it does look like 5 to 6 inches shorter than the SST-60 motor.

They didn't have a chance to finish rigging it to test.

I would be interested to hear of thoughts of sst60 drivers who have had a chance to see the Selva engine. I know its the older carb motor you have, but mid and gearbox should stay the same on new motor. The new motor is based on this powerhead only with low pressure injection !!.

    Just for information !!.

The Selva f1000i engine has a little history, I think it goes something like this. . . . . .

Back in the day. . Selva made a engine for UIM F3. . 850cc, race mid section, race gearbox, 3 cylinders each feed by twin choke dellorto carbs.
My understanding is that OMC were too happy with the competition !!.
So OMC and Selva came to an agreement, Selva would build some OMC engines in Italy and Selva pulled the Selva engine from F3. !!

Soon after this Selva moved into F4 (like F3 but with stock motors !!)
We had the Selva 65hp (850cc, stock mid section, gearbox from 30 hp model, 3 cyl, 3 x twin choke dellortos) F4.

Now 65 hp it was not, maybe they put the 6 upside down !.
Easy to start, it was not !! maybe it because to start from cold ment removing the lid and covering the top 2 carbs with your hands cos it did'nt have a choke !!
Easy to get to fire when the green lights came on, it was not. maybe cos you had to have the engine HOT and trimmed in as far as possible so the fuel from the big carbs went in the cylinders when you hit start button !!.
It was also hard on the little 30 hp gearbox running so high out of the water with 95 hp going through it. . . gearbox life was about 6 hours !!!!

That said when you mastered this F3 motor made into a F4 motor, nothing would get close !!!!!

Here in Europe we had the Yamaha 70ces. not as fast as the Selva, but the Yam started life as a Stock class motor, it was easier to maintain, easier to drive.
After a few years dominating the F4 class the Selva fell out of favor in F4

Meanwhile The Selva F1000i class started to grow in Italy, using the basic 850cc block just bored to 1025cc. and with 3 single choke carbs, race mid and box
This motor has proved to be very reliable ,now it is almost, back to how it was designed to be..

I wonder ?? as we now have Mercury Formula four sroke !!!! maybe we could have Selva Formula Three (f1000i) !!!!!!!
