What's a good drive or prop shaft pin for a sst-45 prop ?
Dean Hobart
Thank's dean,
Seem's there are a wide assorment of different pin's used.
I have considered a shoulder or aircraft screw .
My thouth's are these will be a bolt & nut less thread's tru prop an shaft,
for a less chance of pin loss.
having been a toolmaker since 1956, my knowledge of dowel pins is that they are case hardened and ground on the outside but soft in the center. people that I have seen use them, they always broke, sometimes sitting on the ramp. grade 8 bolts work well by cutting off the head and threads. the very best thing is a shackel pin from Aircraft Spruce and cut off the head with carborundum wheel as they are too hard to saw. just my humble opinion.
It don't get no better than this.
Hello" Mr Bill
I am considering aircraft clevis bolt's.
Looking at AN 24-26, not sure how they compare to the grade bolt's.
These have a low prorfile head an are short treaded .
Wondering if these mite make a good pin ?
thank's mike
