    Default 2012 uim f1 series

WOW what a great race. Now this is the future of powerboat racing.thank you all involved you got it right.I think Torrente was going for the win & Chippe was going for 3rd. Great drive by both.Looks like sami is back. Last I thought it was funny that all the rescue boats with yamaha had a cover over the motor covers. If you cant out sell them cover them. Thats sad.

    A longer answer Dave,

Four stroke inboards in UIM F1 is absolute the wrong way to go right now for many reasons.

    1. When you mix in a heavier boat with lighter outboard boats is a recipe for disaster...heavier boats have an advantage in a crash.

    2. Inboard boats make bigger waves making them harder to pass for a lighter outboard powered F1 boat

    3. Very hard to make racing equal/fair.

    4. At this time no four stroke inboard factory is involved and I can not see Nissan or some other car factory spend the money to make a four stroke car engine competitive.

    5. After the first race 2012 it took three laps for the leader.. to lap the four stroke inboard boat..
I think this is going to take care of it self..!!..

    Default Well, Lars

I feel bigger heavier boats are good. Everyday, it becomes more difficult to find bodies of water where there are little or no rollers. Rollers usually come from spectator boats. We want spectator but we don't want their rollers.

My opinion, there isn't 1 person in a thousand that can drive a tunnel boat. I don't mean ride around in one, I mean drive like Billy Seebold, Benny Robertson, Guido Cappallini.

I think 1 in every 100 could drive a sterndrive boat.

Sterndrives, could use Dodges, Fords, Chevys.......BMWs....Just saying, right now, Mercury is the only F1 outboard company, and they don't make the 2.5 anymore. So, where will the F1 teams be getting motors??? Optimax 300XS's???

    OK Ron,

I understand what you say..but UIM F1 is pretty good the way it is right now.
    Can it be better..absolutely..
It is also the premium International race class with drivers from all over the world.
Don't mix good racing up with a experiment..

Do that first in lower class racing..
There is inboard classes if drivers want to race/use inboards/stern drives.

Maybe Mercury Marine is going four stroke outboards only.. pretty soon..nobody knows..!!

I dont understand what the big deal is re emissions for F1 boat racing, its less than a drop in the ocean compared to all the automotive racing going on in the world of which there is almost no rules re emissions?
Could always run 100% ethanol and caster bean oil, thats sure to make the greenies happy?

I dont think this Four stroke inboard has anything to do with emissions.

    Lars,

"Don't mix good racing up with a experiment."

Sounds like APBA and more specifically OPC.
