90 hp merc shaft length

Is it possible to shorten the shaft length of a 2000 90hp mercury ?
I have a 20" long shaft and I'd like to shorten it to a 15" is this possible ?

there is a man in baton rouge louisiana that cut them for all of the dsra people 225-328-5233 it is 1200 for the housing and swivel bracket and trim ram you will have to get the shaft cut and welded with some one else mabey one of those welders that you inspect on the pipeline

I found a place that's does them 650$$ to cut mid ,cut shifter and water tube and the trim. Painted out the door ! Very professional biz. Thanks for yalls help.
