Default Shift linkage question 56 cuber to 49 cuber parts

I am dressing a 49 inch motor with some parts from a 56 inch motor the shift linkage is the newer style with the clevis pin, the inner bushing clips into the boss on the block and is half of the clevis that holds the shift rod has anyone ever used this style? the inner holes on the block are different diameter.

most of the time it wont work due to the block casting being differnt but if the 49 block is newer like when omc had 49 and 56 it think like 1988 comes to mind it will work. The older 49 blocks you dont have the room to unpin it goodluck

Let me know what it uses, I might have to cut the bushing or just open the hole in the casting to accept it

Well Bill, I looked and looked some more, the carbs, fuel pump and hoses makes it hard to see but I can't see any differrences in the casting on the blocks. My 81, 88, 94 all look the same to me.
