An excellent very experienced driver who isn't hanging his head and is now trying to find his motor off the bottom of the river so he can get it all back together and win this year.
Entering the corner Tracy has a lane behind and inside the red boat -- lane 1. In order to keep speed and not trip his own boat and roll he stays RIGHT ON the outside of the red boat's wake exiting the first pin. Anyone that has driven a tunnel boat knows that following a boat in their white water can put you on your head. No rules, including overlap, say Tracy must enter in lane 1 and exit lane 1...especially on a 1 pin turn which is impossible. He took a logical and legal path through the turn.... note how far the lead boat went off the exit of the first pin to maintain speed.
Dustin is definitely being legally pinched going into the turn by Simberger which makes his split second decision difficult. Rookie or no rookie this is a tough spot to be in... I think he made the right decision to go through the rooster tail of Tracy at this point. My theory is Dustin got caught in what Tracy was avoiding by going wide out of the turn... he got caught in the rooster tail of Tracy and the white water of the red boat, Michael Schubert. I think the boat went back to the right and into Tracy because his boat lifted off the water by the white water and rooster tail -- if you have ever driven into a rooster tail from a V6 --- you know the feeling and it does create lift. I think Dustin made the right move initially and then fell victim to crappy water and rooster tail and then boom an unfortunate incident.
Don't think anyone is to blame, some hard racing with bad timing and bad luck. Easy to play arm chair quarterback on this one but putting myself in that situation at over 100MPH in any of those boats I would have not done anything differently. I do think the course setup here is not safe as expressed by Steve in an earlier post. An entrance and better exit pin may have prevented this type of accident. -Roddy
    well put,,,,,,,,,
for tracy to stay in lane 1 he would have to scruff off all speed and still hope to stay inside of mikes wake,,,,, as why the choice to cross mikes wake was made,,,
every veteran driver would do that,,,,,
dont want to take chance of right sponson to go under
dustin dove in as any driver would do getting pinched by outside boat
rookie or not,,,,and dustin has shown level headed driving as this was not his 1st time in that boat,,,,,watched his driving for yrs and he knows what happens in corners and what to look for
see that in the manner he drove in away from lynn into a clear path inside
took a 1st in a heat race that morn agaist that hard field,,,,,
may be called a rookie from amount of times in f1 style boat but far from a rookie
in the seat time in race conditions,,,,,,
as stated both just got messed up with crappy water conditions
this turn was into the wind which also aided the boat to skipp out beside just the water condition,,,,,,
both drivers were doin their do
    just a bad outcome

yes,,,tracy was fast,,,,,,also was others with same lap times,,,some better
as why they were a pack together after the long straight
fairchild and john fleming had great times not being mentioned as far as lap times
chris was not in the main and johnny drove a loaner boat
was a great fiels of fast boats
and accidents just happens sometimes without havingt to put down fellow racers

Anybody..... How did Chris get on his head? Was he involved in the melee or was this another incident?

Just curious.. F-1 Dreamer...You had a decent weekend...Was Bud there?

Congrats to all. Is there a final recap on results or did I miss it?

Travis Thompson: Travis, I believe this is your time trial going into the first turn. Wish I could have spent more time talking with your dad. By the way, your sponsor approached me. We had a nice little chat you can pay me later . Oooooh, tell your dad to wipe that smirk off his face Im jealous he got the ride!
