Yup,got it loud and clear, I forget you are a "engineer" and you know all. My experience is fifty years long playing high performance and high performance stuff. I don't claim to know all, but whatIhave said comes from this experience. A very good friend of mine who has now left us, said to me that a mind is like a parachute, if it isn't open, it won't do you any good. I have a very open mind on this stuff and have tested and done most of what you have tried and not worked well for you, so I won't bother to offer any more suggestions to you. Sorry to hack your project board Dick, I'm still very interested in your project as many others are. Steve

I don't know about anyone else, but I certainly "got it."

.."With all due respect, the Merc battery CDI is all any 6 cylinder Mark series deflector will ever need. Anything else is a waste of money. Distributor bodies can found on E Bay most any time. "

Agreed with the first statement, but GOOD distributors are getting very hard to find. I got burned on one the "came from a running motor". Uh-huh.

Agreed. Merc's famous disintergrating insulation makes a good distributor/pickup almost impossible to find these days.

Too true, Sam. The distributor I bought had decent wires (believe it or not) but was still dead.

All you got to do is dig them out and replace the wires. They are terminated just inside the potting to some turret terminals on a small circuit card. Done quite a few of them.

So, what you're saying is that below all that potting is a bad connection making the distributor inoperative? Worth a try.

    Thanks.

No what i am saying is the wires can be replaced without depotting the entire unit. Just got to be careful digging in there.

I had an Xray made so I know where the wires terminate and what to watch out for.
