Geez, the money was spent so why not help others? Just tell us there is a reasonable fee, why keep it a secret that doesn't help anyone but yourself

For those of you that seem to be overly concerned about battery CDI triggers for the Mercury system, this repair facility can probably fill your needs.

Have spent the last few weeks redoing the dyno to make more user friendly by fabricating a frame linking the tank and controls together with the pump stand and placing on wheels. Had to make some type of frame to be able to remove the fuel pump and ECU assembly from the boat and setup on the frame without disconnecting fuel lines and minimal electrical connections.

Added a better tach and a vernier throttle control for better RPM control of the engine. I also picked up a used go kart engine monitor with 2 EGT and Tach read outs. Having made an extra exhaust elbow, I welded bosses to it and installed the 2 EGT probes in it. I put 1 in the number 1 cylinder and 1 in the number 2 cylinder exhaust passages. The fuel injection system by Brucato, has an option called a steam wheel. This option allows, on the fly, the adjustment of fuel control of a minus 40% to a plus 50% of the fuel flow. Think of it as being able to turn the adjustments of all carbs open or closed at the same time. That control has been added to the dyno as well. Of course, I can pug a lap top into the ECU and monitor the engine parameters as the engine is running.

I had the 60 inch deflector on the dyno when completed and ran it. All went well with the chain drive and engine control was much easier

With the fuel injection system completed and installed in t he boat, I then put av-gas with the synthetic castor oil mix and made full fuel system pressure tests. Then set the fuel pressure down to 35 PSI and test started the engine. Mag on, then pump on and, no priming required and turned over 2 or 3 revolutions and fired right up.

If all goes well, I may be able to get some run time.

Megaphones and programmable on the fly EFI. I`ll bet that combination`s never been done before. Then again, Nothing in these pics has ever been done before. Now if you can get the computer and EGT probes to talk to each other and make instantaneous detection and corrections you could get rich.

Ah for the old days of Mark 20Hs, with one carb, adjustable on the fly, and a simple magneto!

That all looks very very nice,
But how on earth are you supposed to remember all the technical stuff when testing a motor ? I got last after the 1st sentence.

    very cool looking rig up.

Dear Mr Austin, I am an ardent admirer of your flawless project, which provides great motivation for all the tinkerers among us. Unfortunately, the thread collapsed some time in January, so we never found out what happened to the twin plug ignition system. I own a set of Land&Sea twin plug heads for my Merc 2.5 ROS, which I would like to fit with a reliable ignition system. Your advice/reason for not proceeding with the twin plug system would be greatly appreciated, and I trust not only by me. I see that the OMC Ficht motors also utilize dual wound coils, but doubt whether any of these would work with the Merc electronics.
    Kind regards, Wolfgang (South Africa)
