Default From australia ,r.e 40 hp engine performance

    G,day guys
    im glen from Australia.
i have a alloy quintrex dart 3.9 mt tinny.
i had a 30 hp 2 cyl two stroke short shaft and have just traded it in a day ago for a new 40 hp 3 cylinder (3 carb) long shaft.
im purchasing a 4 blade merc new spit fire prop with a 15 pitch, brought some ngk 8 heat range irriuduam spark plugs.
i need to track down some 50 hp carbies i beleive to make my 40 hp into a 50 hp is that correct please ?
does any one have the part number for the 50 hp (3) carbs please ?
whats the bore diameter size for these please ?
so going from a 2cyl 30hp to a 40 hp,4 blade spit fire prop, irrduam plugs and 50 carbs, how much diffeence will i notice in power, speed and all round performance ?
what sort of speed will i get out of it ?
my boat says max motor 25 hp,seems that alot of guys have put 40 hp engines on 3.90 mt tinny before and been ok!!
hope to hear some replies soon.
    cheers
    glen

mate its a US forum...most of these blokes will be in bed asleep now.
the carbs you want are WME57 ,you'l need to change the jets to .052,you also need to remove the reed stops and run the retaining washer like the 50/55/60hps run.the 40/50hp block run different port timing then the 55/60hp motors.
don't waste your time with the spitfire prop, get the merc trophy sport stainless they run great.
i use to run a shortshaft 40hp 4cyl merc on a 3.7 stacer proline,it was a rocket ship ,i only had a modded solace 11x17p staino on it and it topped out at 49mph on the limiter,it need more pitch..
