    Default spitfire or solos props

    g,day again guys
just wandering on your thoughts on props(4 blades),would you prefer merc spitfire or solos on 40 hp (3 cyl)two stroke mercury ?
from what mercury claims, the spitfire 4 blade retains top speed and gives all out bottom/low end accelration power!
im inclined to go with the spitfire after reading great results on internet so far!!
    cheers

    Default Any Pictures?

Everyday, there are new props. The Young Guns in Washington have figured out how to make a prop quick and fast, but I didn't know Mercury had caught up with them.

    Default Hell, This Isn't New

Our FIVE Blade Pleasure 5's out run most three blades.

When I was a kind, in the '50's, everyone said, "Racing Prop" had to have two blades. Today most race props are four or five blades.

In 1976, Vern Kargus won B Hydro with a three blade, there were seven hundred boats there. By 1977's Nationals more than half the winners had three blades.

Were are learning to make props accelerate like a 24 but go like a 30...I thought Mercury was catching up with the BACK YARD RACERS.

This Spit Fire thing is just an aluminum four blade prop. Nothing trick, as most four blades will go as fast as or faster, than a three blade, if you go pitch for pitch.

For some reason, somebody decided that if you ran a four blade you dropped pitch. ReallY???Drop pitch and you'll drop speed, Pitch is no more than a gear ratio!

look of the shape/rake of the 4 blade spit fire merc.
i was thinking of running a 15 pitch with the spit fire 4 blade, how would that be on a 40 hp merc??
also r.e carbs, would 60 hp carbs on 40 hp be to big ?
    thanks
