If there are no ModV plans out there, then it should be easier to start with 18-19' full tunnel plans & add a centre pod.
Maybe the wood boat building experts out there can give some pointers on the framework modifications.

then why not just build a true tunnel if you already have plans for such a thing?

Already answered that, hence this thread...

There is a guy that was building a mod vp rc boat for racing.Would it be possible to get plans for a rc boat and enlarge them for a full size?Just a thought.

Default Only Boat We Built From Srcatch

The 20 Baker pickle Fork, which many called The Darth Baker, Baker called it Rampage.

Tim Soares built the plug, designed it himself. I gave the "PLUG" to Baker, he finished the deck, and made a mold. He gave Tim Soares the first boat out of the mold.

My 19 Daytona that I ran a Havasu about 1978, was a hand layed up boat by Bob Leach's son and myself. We made regular tunnel runner, and a center pod to the size the rules stated...It was a ROCKET....didn't turn too well as the motor was about 8 feet in the air..

I first picture is the 19 Daytona

Second picture is a Lavey with a V-8. We bought, with Lavey's money, a Baker Bass boat bottom with the rights to splash it. John Castelli consulted on the making of the plug. The Lavey suffered from too wide of tunnels.

I don't have a degree, not a hydrodynamic engineer or anything else on paper that says I can design and build boats. Fact is, is does not take a rocket scientist. The first one of these that I built about 25 years ago ran pretty good. With some refinements the current one runs great.

I would not start by taking a full tunnel and turning it into a Mod-VP. I would begin the whole process from scratch with Mod-VP in mind.

that things pretty cool Mark, it's like a Stoker and a Seebold tunnel smashed into eachother in the black hole and that's what came out! I dig it!
