More Lost H2O? My introduction to racing that has never ebbed since was at an all-alky race at Lake Maxinkuckee near Culver Indiana. All-stock races in that area were often held at Manteno, Ill. That was appropriate because all of us drivers are crazy and there was a big asylum there. Also Wolf Lake near Hammond Indiana. Maybe there is no lake there now because they were filling it with garbage from Chicago during those years. Also lets not forget the river marathons from years past. such as Stockton to Redding and Sammanish Slough.

Creve Couer Lake, St louis God only knows how many races were held there over the years. in the 50`s 60`s 70`s 80`s all the ODA had to do was call the county Parks Director and set a date. We raced there 2-3 times a year. Also hosted annual dragboat races and hosted Bill Seebold`s F1 races. Today nothing. The problem cost. The last time we checked they wanted 10 grand up front. Plus you had to get permits from a myriad of county agency`s that could add plenty cost bythe time you fullfilled what they wanted.
