We acquired a B looper a little bit ago and it is a very late produced block. I should be hearing from Paul Christner soon about the estimated year it was produced. I know it was sold originally to Howard Shaw.

We sent it down to Steve to have a couple things done to it. It, like the A, needs a sleeve for the Mark 25 crank in order to accept the two stacked ball bearings. Had a new rope plate made for it like the A. Rings were made and this one came with good pistons that fit the bores nicely. Steve did an overall inspection of the parts and crank case fitting. Also needed the bolt pattern changed and water discharge altered for the elbows we received with the engine. They are the wider sweeping style. He also machined the looper reed cage it came with. Seals and such also provided. It should be coming home soon and I will start assembly.

You can see in the pictures this has the later exhaust divider inserts and the puff ports for the nitro conversion. It also has the water labyrinth and cover on top of the block that some loopers have, but none of ours up until have had. Steve has told me it was run, but is in nice shape. It is interesting to see a later engine like this. None of our others have these later features.

Almost completed, couldn't get the foot together, waiting on one bearing. It's going on a different tower anyway.

Now on the correct tower. Have all the water routed. Just rebuilding another foot for it. Then will be ready to start this one.

First start since the rebuild. Finally found the time. Had some issues after I let it sit for a minute while I got the gasoline together in order to flush it. The entire bottom cylinder filled up with water . How did I know? It wouldn't rope over. Thought something had stuck (ring) removed the bottom cylinder spark plug and water POURED out. Roped it over and over water kept coming. Finally got it all out. I worked for 30 minutes to get all the water out and sprayed tons of gasoline into it while roping it over. Must be a bad gasket seal at the exhaust headers? My "A" didn't have this problem. Sure was a scary sight though...
