Found my bogging problem!!! Check this out!

I pulled my 40hp mercury twin apart today looking for my problem! The reed was broke and jammed inverted! This is defiantly my bogging problem buy i think it must have affected my overall performance. especially top speed! Give me your thoughts!

Can't beat those stainless steel reeds, I guess (unless THEY fail).

That'll do it! I've had numerous fiber reeds fail (wear out) through the years- mostly in my E but they did chip eventually in my C. I'd still rather have a fiber reed failure than a stainless reed failure. The only time I had a stainless reed fail it ruined a piston and scored the cylinder. That's when I switched to fiber reeds....
