    Default xs 650 merc 1974

I have a chance to buy a complete running merc xs65 for $600. Thinking i might put it on my jon boat . Is there anything that makes this motor not so good for running on rivers ? Can you use the front half of the crank case on later style of motors?

I personally don't know that much about a 650xs but for $600 running doesn't sound bad

I think if it's a 650XS this is a great deal , but for everyday use on a Jon boat not a good choice . Not sure they were made in 74 , they were listed in 76 advertising . You wouldn't have any problem selling it, if it's a real 650XS . Post some pics if you can .

You're gonna have fun trying to locate carbs and linkage for that beast.
