I think there was only one flight of DU qualifications...My wife is from Janesville...and I remember my dad landed at the Beloit/Janesville Airport....and he said he could see me leading my heat when he landed...
He got to the pits just as the second qualifier was over...I had qualified the C the day before, so he came back.He wasn't coming unless I qualified...
He made me run our BRAND NEW THREE SCREW PORT COVER engine as my dad believed that the NEW 55-H block should be better...after Beloit, we tested, I never race a three screw port cover engine again in "D"...of course, the 44's were all three screw....but then again, maybe there were a few four port 44's...
These are results from 1961 Guntersville, Alabama...bet another beer...
