Is the SST 60 clutch dog better. I know I have read somewhere before about these small gearcase's having problems with something. Was the clutch dog the problem to fix? I was thinking about taking the reverse gear out. Like the big boys do on the big motors. Have any of y'all done this before on the small gearcase's. And what would be the best gear to go with.

The only gear ratio for 3 cylinder is 15:28. The 12:29 is for 2 cylinder and will last about as long as it took me to write this if used under a good 3 cylinder power head. The SST 60 clutch is not needed unless running on a tunnel boat where prop is continuously leaving and entering the water at high RPM. The forward gear side of the 60 clutch has wider cogs that engage forward so there is less travel between them when prop looses bite. The stock clutch would explode. Reverse can be left out but something(old reverse gear with teeth removed) must be used to keep propshaft from moving back. I have a set that includes all 3 gears and bearing for forward gear listed on ebay for $400. I also have some forward/pinion sets for $350.

crowleymarine.com is a good source for parts, I've ordered from them simply because seaway is just so far away from me and shipping is a lot more because of that. Crowleymarine.com is in Colorado so if you are on the east coast or near Colorado they maybe the ones you want to go with. Seawaymarine though does have some hard to find parts, that being said i maybe ordering from them soon for one part I need and crowleymarine doesn't sell.
