I would put the blame on the driver for wearing those stupid great big mittens and not making sure he cannot move around too much when at the driving position.
should be more in a enclosed type seat, and those gloves / mittens don't let you grip the wheel like you should do.
lucky fella, it could of been a lot worse and the outcome was just a few good bits of video and nothing nasty.

maybe time to think about a quick release harness !!!!!!

good video and nice and clear, glad he came out of it ok and will be good to race another day.

I think this driver was lucky not have ended up in the water....with a motor on top of him...

My advice in the future: Toss the gloves, get leather ones, get a steering wheel with some grip...and then, HANG ON like your life depended on it!

Very cool looking boat and engine combo!!!

My old Twin 16 foot Glastron and my 17 foot Twin, used to toss me around....I usually hung on by my thumbs.....I had a big "WRAP AROUND" seat.

Mike Wallace used to have Velcro on his seat and life jacket. (Mike used to drive will Bill Cooper..."COOP" was about 6'4" and Mike was maybe 5'10).....They'd set the boat up for Bill and Mike would just "raddle around" in the seat. So, they came up with the velcro idea. Worked too good....a GN driver drown, as he couldn't get loose from his seat!

I started to have a conversation with Bob Wartinger some time ago about restraints in open cockpit boats as I believe the UIM have realised the damage to drivers has happened when they get tossed out, it sort of faded out as I have gone sst45 not t850
Still interested though the pro's and cons of that.
    Cheers
