with the 70 carb's is it a case of just larger venture and butterfly ?
if so could I get these spare ones reamed out and make up new butterfly disc's.
or is there other stuff deep inside the carbs that's also different ?

what year did the 70 carbs come out that would fit straight onto my engine ?
mine is 1995 56 cu in with the quick start choke to the inlet manifold, don't realy want to change onto old choke type.
is there any other engines that use these carbs ? like a twin or bigger that still uses the same part numbers etc, as there just is not any of these around.
.
you wont find the same part number as a jet change will change the assembly part and bodies are not sold separately.
The first year of the 56 was a 70 so they have the larger carbs.
Those 1 1/2 carbs are also on the 60hp 2 cylinder and later propshaft rated 50.
There are various designs of the carbs so if you dont get the same type ( as the 56-70) as in all fuel jet or 1 fuel and 2 air jet etc you will be on your own re jetting.
just as I thought
I need to stick to 1993 0nwards carbs from a 70hp.
is there anything at all else that is different from the 60 to 70 ? I have looked on a parts list and I cant find anything other than a carb change to make this a 70 (apart from the decals).
such a shame its not just a jet size , as that would be dead easy to get swapped out.
.
have you checked with a BRP dealer that your engine doesnt need the changes that there was to jetting and the tell tale location
There is a service bulletin for it.
If you have access to good fuel I would be shaving a bit off the head and or blocking the idle exhaust relief's as well if you have a light boat and you dont overload the engine...plenty of variables in that...
maybe find some 90 yamaha carbs. or 50 mariner carbs.
out front again
regards shaving the head, that is a no no from what ive been told, no space to shave it ??????? only from what ive been told.
closing up the idle reliefs, yes that would give a touch more compression, around 10psi gain, that would put me around 157 to160 psi as its already
close to 150 psi when checked warm with throttles open fully.
the model I have had the tell tale moved, mine came from factory with it at the top and not on side like older models.
its the same as produced right up intill 2004.
ima75man
what is this about using 90hp Yamaha carbs ? do these bolt straight on ? and the mariner 50 !!!! I thought they were even smaller than mine ????
