Default Show the Money and they will come

    Fellow 45 drivers,

I would like to know how many more drivers we could get to show up if we had a larger purse? Also what would that purse need to be to have the drivers show up. Think about a race with 25 plus boats like we used to have. That would be amazing.

Please please give me your feedback: If you dont have a voice you will never be heard. Lets hear from the seasoned and new drivers here!!!!!!!!!

I don't know Steve what did you get paid for driving 1,200 miles and winning the race in orange Texas? That will help me give a fair answer because I know what the back markers get.

I would like to add to this if I may. What is important to you.
    (1) Amount of prize money?
    (2) Championship & the points?
    (3) Series race vs club race?
    (4) Payout ie. All racers that show get a equal share. Or you get paid for finish order?

    Dave,

They are all important to me but my point in this thread is to get conversations going. We have over 20 boats out there yet pull 10-12 at most races with Trenton and Bay City being higher(13-17). So with that said would more monies at these races bring the racers back?

Where is the input from Bud and Mark or Travis and Chris??? Come on guys this is our sport start voicing your opinions!!!!!!!!!

To get a bigger purse we need to be the show. There are a lot of possible venues where the bigger boats won't work to tight saftey issues ect.IF the 45'S were the show you could also invite kneel Downs and SLT 's and they would be the future drivers. Just a idea. NOT trying to rock the boat. Jeff Zeller #96

Well said Steve I have been saying this for the last few years we are racing for the same amount or less than we got in 2003 and the price of everything has doubled since then and promoters wonder why they cant get any boats to show up for their races. To give an example our club put on a race in our little podunk town and we paid more in prize money at that one race than most series pay out in two races. To put a number on it we paid roughly a little over $16,000.00 in prize money between 3 classes and then had 3 10 lap dash for cash races that paid $600.00 to the first 3 places. $300 $200 $100.

    Jeff,

I'm glad your being apart of this thread and I thank you for your input.
We do not need to be the show in order to get the prize money. We will never be the main attraction but thats ok. We can still be apart of the big picture. Any race with 20 plus boats will be a blast to not only race in, but to see as a spectator!!!!!

Keep up the comments Jeff, we need more of you in the class!!!!
