Default Ever See A DeSilva Inboard Drag Boat???

I think this boat was built as an outboard but the Bill and Ralph DeSilva's, dad, John. But I don't really know. This is from Boating News, July 1964.

Another DeSilva hull, "The Witch," is in your other Boating News post. Fun to look at this old stuff, thanks, Ron.

Did Boating News become Hot Boat?

Bill and Ralph's father built it. I remember Driving with Billy following his Father towing the boat home.

First, thanks Bill for the factual information. Seems I was sure this was a John DeSilva boat, but really could not remember how I knew that.

Frequently, when all is said a done, one person is the "Mover and Shaker". Dave Severson, may have been from Minnesota and if he is still alive, I'd love to interview him. He lived in the 1960's in Garden Grove on LaiLani Street across the way from where I taught summer school. Dave always seems to really like me and was always "HOOKING" me up with deals....and maybe at least one woman.

Dave started the World of Boat Racing, Hot Boat Magazine, maybe Boat News and Power Boat. In the summer of 1967 I worked for Dave when he owned Power Boat Magazine selling subscriptions. It was a great "RACKET" as I think i sold two year subscriptions for $5.00 BUCKS, but I got to keep the money and send him the subscriptions. As he told me, larger mailing list got him more advertiser money. $5.00 BUCKS got you a case of beer in those days, so I didn't work too hard sell subscriptions, but did manage to keep a pocket full of cash from selling them.....

Dave usually sold his "Enterprises" and moved on.

I also wrote for Power Boat until Bob Nordskog bought Power Boat and changed the name top POWERBOAT. I was one of the first fired as Bob didn't want little boats in his magazine, until he wanted to president of APBA.

Yes true, my dad says it was Bill's dad who built it.
