Question: what is the possibility of flipping for 11 footers tunnel boat with 30hp yamaha at speed 81.3mph for flat water and 83.7mph (GPS) for slight choppy ?

Very good speeds with a 30hp engine.
What year is the Yami (2 stroke or 4 stroke) has it been modified, what was done if modded?
What pitch prop, gear ratio and rpm on the engine for those speeds?
Was that run on a river with river flow?

dvd....with regard to your original question...(sorry i seem to have missed the question, first time through)... sure! there's a possibility of dynamic instability at this kind of speed. particularly with a boat like this. these boats surely are boasting more than 30hp, and must be heavily modified to achieve 80+mph. Hulls must be quite light, also. Regardless, they're likely pushing their envelop of stability (like most racing conditions) and probably required to run at higher angles of attack to achieve 80+mph, so small changes in conditions can surely cause instability.

I would like to know more about knifing the crank, we did this in cars. When suggested to my builder I was told it wouldn't work. I am sure some stuffing must be done afterwards, what material is used inside the block? For ref. I race Aluminum Duck Boats, currently a 59" Mercury. Thanks in advance for any tips you have.
