Default 31.8 CI Evinrude 30hp Carb discussion

    Hello,

I am in the process of pulling my carb all apart. I removed the silver caps from the top and inside the bowl area. The one inside the bowl area just appears to block off the other side vent for the carb. Is this required? What happens if I leave that open to have more vent area? Any downside?

Also I have noticed that some of the older ones have a nipple on the front of the bowl to feed the primer assembly while others simply have a screw in place. Is one set up better than another. Any tips or mods since I have the carb apart. I am grateful for any insight.

    Cheers,

It wouldn't vent any better & no increase would be found there. If I remember right it will cause it to have a problem, I'll look as some carbs & get back on.
