Hopefully someone knows the story on this cowling? I've seen 2 others posted on the internet, but thats it. The decals are definitely factory, brushed aluminum looking letters just like the later MVP cowls. First thought was someone found a set of lift off cowl decals and put them on a 225 clamshell, but they would not be long enough to wrap around the cowling (the lift off decal stops shorter because there is a louver in the way) and it also would not have the bottom stripe set where the regular motors say "black max"- The location of the "V-P" is slightly different also.

The powerhead (matches the clamp) and midsection appears to be from high perf. It looks like from the adapter down it has never been apart, it has clamshell gaskets, yet it has solid mounts, liner removed, and a drilled can. This is all north texas area freshwater stuff I bought with a merc racing colored contender tunnel hull, just trying to figure out what I ended up with. Thanks for the help.

BTW - pardon the dust, I hadn't had a chance to clean them up since I found them in a barn.
