Default Help with propeller for 50 yamaha

As above, just about ready for the first run of my seafire casual racing boat.. One big problem I've still to sort is the propeller..

It currently has a 10 1/4 x 15 3 blade stock prop and I'm thinking I'll need more pitch.. I'm hoping to get it up to about 50mph.. Not sure how realistic that is.. I'm thinking somewhere in the region of 17 - 21" although I haven't been able to find any that are around the same diameter as the current property not sure if that's necessary?

Im not too sure about maching props and some guidance / recommendations will be much appreciated! I'm in the UK and obviously really would need to try a few.. Not sure if that's possible?

Boat and engine in pics to give an idea of what Im Working with

    Thanks

Looks like a good prop - although probably out of my price range also I'd be too scared to buy it as knowing my luck it'd be the wrong pitch!

If you buy direct from me, it would be $300 plus shipping. We offer free exchange, you pay the shipping bothways.

Thanks for that - sounds good. So would a semi cleaver work well with my deep v hull? Would I need to adjust engine hight?

Also.. Will this type of prop work well for general use such as skiing and rough water? Etc.

Forgive my lack of knowledge on props - never really had anything to do with them until now!

got to be plenty of props out there that will fit that motor.
Loads of people race the Yamaha motors.

what size is the hub ?

13 spline - really worried now, the first time out is due next weekend for a club race / meet and I haven't got a prop yet! surely there is such a thing out there as a small (10 - 11") diameter prop with a pitch above 15?

    YES THERE IS
Mercury props go bigger than 15 but not sure if they will fit your hub.
do you know the model number of your engine, or what the size of the hub is ? across the back of the prop .
also how thick is the 13 spline ?

I would think also a few Suzuki props would fit but not sure if they go past 15 on their 40hp.

get out your calliper's and measure the prop shaft, hub and from centre of prop shaft to cavitation plate, then we can seethe max diameter of the prop.
need about 1/4 to 1/2 inch clearance.

have you got a number on the prop you have now ? then can check what that is for hub etc.

Get onto merten marine mate and get yourself a 18p chopper . There $325 I think.
That will get you over 50 mph and works well on v bottom hulls
I think Ron makes them to .
Thanks twzted thanked for this post
