Default NBRA National meeting November 11, 2017

The NBRA season is fast coming to an end with our last race being held in the Seattle area on October 7 and 8. With that in mind we now need to plan for our national meeting which will be held in Clarksville Arkansas. We are currently working on the hotel accommodations which has been offered at $65.00 a night plus tax. If it is possible I would like to get a count of the number of rooms we will need. Clarksville was chosen because of their outstanding support of our racing activities over the years and it is a central location for all our members. I will post further details on the hotel as more information is finalized.
The meeting is currently being planned for November 11 with an informal get-together on the 10 at a local eatery. The University of the Ozarks will host the actual meeting and awards banquet. There will be wine and beer available at the ceremony paid for by one of our members! Now that might be an incentive for our crews.
Over the season all of us have seen things that we need to improve on or want to change to make our club better. There are some errors in our rulebook, safety concerns that we need to talk about, class weight changes, race format and so on. If you have an idea that should be addressed at the national meeting, please Email it to me at apvw1@aol.com. As safety is a top priority the LBRA has acquired 100 pairs of Lifeline Kevlar socks. These socks will be given to each driver at the first race he attends for the 2018 racing season free of charge, that’s an $85 value!
One thing that is vital to all of us is our race schedule. Hopefully we can have 10 races this coming year so I encourage each local club president and race director be prepared to come to the meeting with the races and dates they would like to have.
I am looking forward to a great turnout at our national meeting and hope to see you there.
    Alan van Weele Sr
    President

The NBRA National Meeting is November 11th and is being held in Clarksville AR. The folks at University of the Ozarks will provide two meeting rooms for us at a very reasonable cost. This is the university website where we will be holding our meeting. https://ozarks.edu/. The meeting will start at 8AM and end at about 5PM. The awards segment of the meeting will start 7PM and end about 11PM. Coffee and water will be available during the normal meeting. A wet bar is planned for the evening and will be paid for by the president of the NBRA! Now that might be an incentive for a number of our folks.

A couple things to remember! Be readyto discuss our race schedule for 2018. Also we will need written proposals for the Long and Short Course nationals. Additionally, several of our commisioners have their terms expire and we need to select new ones. I am woring on an agenda and if you like to have somthing that needs addressing at the national meeting please forward it to me.
Hotel and restraunt information will be made availabe later in the day.

Wish you guys lot's of luck. Maybe this next year a friend of mine from an old boat racing family and one of my old pit men can come up to sit in the pits of one of the closer races. My favorite would be Pineville.

    Default NBRA National meeting

Our national meeting and award ceremony was a great success. I will post a complete summery of the event in a few days when I get the official minutes to review. Some quick info on the event is as follows. It looks like we could have up to 13 races this year with our new West Coast club, Whidbey Island Roostertails hosting up to three events. The long Course Nationals will be held at Clarksville AR and our Short Course Nationals will be held in Jacksonville IL. A full schedule and dates will be available in a few days. In order to increase driver safety each full racing member will receive a pair of Lifeline Kevlar socks free of charge provided by the Louisiana Boat Racing Association. Small changes to the technical rule were made with the most significant being the C MOD technical specification for the 30 cu in Mercury where we have aligned our engine spec's with that of the APBA.

We have also made some changes relative to our event insurance where we have added $1 million in coverage for an event with no cost being charged to our member clubs. Other things we looked at were standardizing the use of our new digital clock, full surveyed courses at our national events, tighter inspections at our club events and so on.
