    Bev and the family,
So sorry to hear the news. Rest in peace Ed, we will see you at the Finish Line.
We know Ed & Bev from the Michigan Outboard days, way back to the '60's when Ed was running C Service.
Ed was a heck of good guy to all the racers, APBA and US Title Series.
He will be missed by many.
Truly, one of the good guys!

So sorry to see that Ed passed. RIP Ed and God Bless his family and friends. I will always remember the first pictures I took of Ed and I didn't even know who he was. I think it was at Springfield, Illinois and he was about to crank a C Service Runabout with a cigar in his mouth.

My wife and I wish to send our sincerest condolences to the Thirlby family for the loss and passing of
Ed Thirlby Sr. He will be greatly missed by the boat racing community/ family.

Mr. Thirlby was one of the most decent and respectful businessmen I ever had a chance to do business with for vintage engine racing parts that I needed, as Ed was always more than reasonable and fair on the prices when he did not have to be, and never tried to take advantage of me if I needed a rare Konig part to finish a Konig restoration project.

When my wife and I would go to the races to pick up those parts, he was always smiling, welcoming and treated both my wife and myself with courtesy and respect.

Dear old racing friend, may you rest with the lord with peace for eternity.

    Regards,

    Paul
    and Diane Christner

Ed Thirlby, Sr. was a great friend and mentor to so many people. His ever-present sense of humor made him so much fun to be around. His contributions to the sport of outboard racing have done so much to help keep the sport alive. He will be deeply missed by his extended boat racing family. I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the Thirlby family and his many friends. God speed, Ed.

    Ditto from Bruce and Shirley--
Thirlby racing baled me out at many races. One that really stands out was changing pistons between heats so Icould finish the race. Ed was talking to me and we watched Mike,Deke and crew perform their magic as trained by the Master-ED.
Always enjoyed rehashing the races with you and Bev.
    I'll catch ya later,

    Bruce
