Default 59 ci Mercury manual start parts list needed

I found a pull start cowling (has the hole in front of cowl) and am wondering what parts are needed to add that option (manual start) to an e start engine. If you have peeled this onion already please share your wisdom.

Boats dot net shows some parts as discontinued but im hopeful this idea is doable as i get comforted knowing i can pull start if the battery is dead.

    Thanks

I'll try to find the part numbers for you.

Looks like it could get expensive adding all that up separately. Might be able to browse ebay for a used assembly.

I’m hopeful someone has already crossed this bridge and can weigh in. I have those schematics but i still think a member here may chime in with some help.

I might be confused on what you are asking. All the parts in that diagram are needed and are available to order. My engine is a factory electric start converted to manual start.

Dont get confused. I’m hoping for a list of parts to add a manual start to a 59 ci merc.

There are the parts in your link and then parts for the flywhee/stator as well as parts for the fuel pump. Its tough to develop a comprehensive list and my hope is that its bene done before and parts documented. But maybe not.

Ok I see what you are saying. So for the fuel, I wouldn't think anything has to change, but with a dead battery I don't think the fuel enriching system will work, so you might want the manual primer.

As for the flywheel, the ratchet crown isn't listed as a separate part to my surprise.. Might have to buy the manual flywheel.

I'll see if I can find any more info. Let me know if I can help by comparing my manual start to your electric start engine.

The flywheel is marked down from $433 to $79 though haha. Seems pretty cheap for OEM new

Dang! Yea you might want to just keep an eye peeled for a junked engine to pull the parts off of. That ain't far from what I gave for my whole engine nearly brand new.
